![]() ![]() On linux if I have a firefox tab open it can kill my performance. On windows I can use a transparent foobar with rainmeter AND a video all on my secondary monitor and my game doesn't stutter or get worse performance. It's one of the big things keeping me from running linux full time. Is there a way I could avoid this? I'd like to have a video on one screen and my game on the other without impacting performance like I do with windows. A close second is using my dedicated music player (deadbeef) with compositing off. The best performance I get by far is when I disable my other monitor, keep nothing else open, and JUST play the game. x11 works the best for games if I turn off compositing but when I do that it breaks video playback (usually it just breaks my whole browser and I have to relaunch it), and it ruins the transparency of my music player. I've tried it with x11 and wayland, and they both fair pretty poorly. I'm currently running manjaro KDE, but I've also experienced this with other distros like popOS. In windows I can game with anything running on my second monitor and there's no impact at all. When I play games and have these things going they make my game stutter, or just make my performance worse straight up, and it's incredibly annoying. I spend most of my time gaming with music on, or a video running, both would be on my second monitor.
